Offline Budgeting App: Track Money With No Internet Connection

MoneyFlow is offline-first. There's no bank connection to maintain and no server call required to log a purchase, check your Safe-to-Spend number, or update a bill - it all works with no internet connection at all.

What "offline-first" actually means

Offline-first means the app was built to work without a connection as the default case, not patched afterward to tolerate one. Since there's no bank feed to pull from, there's nothing for the app to wait on - your entries, balances, and calculations all live and run on your device.

Why offline matters

  • Works on a flight, in an area with unreliable signal, or anywhere you'd rather not depend on a connection
  • Nothing to load or wait on when you open the app to log something quickly
  • Your data isn't transmitted off your device by default, which is a separate benefit from just not needing signal

What still needs a connection

Cloud Sync, a Pro feature, is the one part of MoneyFlow that uses the internet - it backs up your data and keeps it in sync if you use MoneyFlow on more than one device. It's entirely optional and off by default; everything else about the app, including Safe-to-Spend, runs locally.

Offline works hand in hand with manual entry - since there's no bank connection pulling data in the background, there's nothing that needs a live connection to function. Read more about budgeting without bank account linking.

Frequently asked questions

Does MoneyFlow require an internet connection to work?+

No. Logging spending, bills, debts, and goals, and seeing your Safe-to-Spend number, all work with no internet connection at all. An internet connection is only used if you turn on the optional Cloud Sync feature.

What is Cloud Sync, and do I need it?+

Cloud Sync is an optional Pro feature that backs up your data and keeps it in sync across devices. It's off by default and never required - the app is fully offline-first without it.

If I use MoneyFlow offline, is my data still safe if I lose my phone?+

Without Cloud Sync turned on, your data lives only on that device, the same as a notes app or spreadsheet stored locally - there's no cloud copy to recover it from. If that's a concern, Cloud Sync gives you a backup; it's just not on by default.

Does offline mean my data is never transmitted anywhere?+

By default, yes. MoneyFlow doesn't send your financial data off your device unless you explicitly opt into Cloud Sync.
